Want to get started with Kickstart? NSAR are here to help.

What is Kickstart

The Kickstart Scheme was launched by the UK government in 2020 to create a number of new 6-month job placements for young people who are currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment. The job placements are aimed at supporting the participants to develop the skills and experience they need to find permanent work after completing the scheme.

Funding is available for 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week, plus associated employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions.

How NSAR can support you.

NSAR have been supporting the rail sector with Kickstart since it’s inception, and we have been working with a number of employers to help them get the best out of this initiative. Whether you want 1 or over 100 young people, NSAR are committed to providing all organisations the same high level of support throughout your journey.

So, what does NSAR support look like?  You will have a dedicated account manger who will manage all grant funding paperwork, and liaise with DWP every step of the way. We will help you design engaging job descriptions written with the young person in mind, and support you with promotional events, ensuring your brand stands out.

NSAR will provide 1-2-1 pastoral support for all your Kickstart placements, with a dedicated mentor, and provide full training to your line managers and workplace mentors, ensuring you are completely prepared for your young person. We also offer a comprehensive e-learning platform for your Kickstarter, enabling them to learn new skills and develop themselves further.

NSAR are on-hand to support you every step of the way.

We are offering all Rail Alliance members access to online workshops throughout August, to learn more about Kickstart, and help you get started with the Grant Funding application.  If you are interested in joining us, or want more information about how NSAR can support your Kickstart journey, please click on the link below:
