Rail Alliance once again Partners with Network Rail to introduce its Design For Reliability Initiative

Following on from a successful pilot event in London, Rail Alliance again partnered with Network Rail to introduce its Design For Reliability initiative to the Northern region. NR’s York HQ hosted a lively session as Rail Alliance members and guest companies were taken through the process, which is being rolled out for new procurement decisions on controlled fixed infrastructure across all routes.

Host speaker Kevin Rayment is Network Rail’s Reliability Process Manager and the architect of this progressive approach for its Product Acceptance regime. With focused communication, transparency and accountability at its core, the process is an evolution for rail of proven techniques that have helped transform the automotive sector, from which Kevin brings significant experience and successes.

Design For Reliability will validate procurement decisions by understanding performance and value. This made interesting debate as the assembled suppliers were given a fair chance to air opinion and concerns about the difficulties encountered in the existing process.  The session was therefore welcomed as positive by the group, and further in-depth training will be available.

Rail Alliance looks forward to further involvement with this programme as Network Rail continues these awareness sessions across the UK.
