What are the opportunities?
Nexus is currently seeking to procure three contracts worth around £500m as part of the Nexus’ Fleet Replacement Programme on the Tyne and Wear Metro.
The different contract opportunities, which are in construction, manufacture and maintenance, are described in detail below.
We are also holding an event on Monday 8 October which will give businesses the opportunity to meet the bidders and find out more about the opportunities available. If you are interested in attending this event, please register your interest now.
Nexus’ Tyne and Wear Fleet Replacement is now a live procurement project. The procurement includes four contracts worth around £500m:
- Manufacture and Supply Agreement (MSA): The Manufacture and supply of a fleet of 42 new trains
- Train Services Agreements (TSA): The Maintenance of the outgoing and the maintenance of the new fleets
- Depot Construction Contract (DCC): The Construction of a new maintenance facility for the new fleet
Throughout the course of the project thus far, at some point, you have been in contact with a member of the MetroFutures team to register your interest in regard to supply chain opportunities. The North East Local Enterprise Partnership are planning an event on Monday 8 October whereby organisations can pitch the products or services they can offer for consideration by the shortlisted bidders.
