Rail Alliance Member Networking Event: Vehicle Design
June 14 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Please note that this is a free event for Rail Alliance members only. Non Members are welcome to attend for a fee of £100+VAT per person
Intended to invite debate, this event will consider the art of vehicle design whilst considering the practical constraints to which designers and builders must respond.
Taking the consequences of design into discourse with the need to prove economic viability this event this event will explore the topic both from concept / new build stage to mid-life overhaul. The intention will be to generate discussion around holistic design approaches for the needs of modern-day passengers (in all their guises) whilst addressing the constraints of marrying latest design thinking within the physical, engineered structure. Developing the balance, or indeed trade-off between conceptual desire vs practical expectations the event will address the implications of the RSSB’s Capability Delivery Plan, juxtaposing the need to create more space on trains (point 6) with the requirement to ensure a personalised passenger experience and ease of journey (9 and 3).
We are delighted to confirm that we will be hosting this event at the prestigious National Transport Design Centre at Coventry University. Delegates will have the opportunity to see the Centre’s capabilities and explore design case studies during lunch. Further details out shortly.
