Digital Railways: the supply chain opportunity
6th December, 2018. Cardiff.
The rail industry is in a state of growth not seen in generations. But addressing the challenge of accelerating demand from both passengers and freight requires significant technological change to overcome the shortcomings of its currently traditional and sometimes antiquated infrastructure.
The Digital Railway is now a reality. With projects such as Crossrail and Thameslink already being delivered to a digitally enabled framework, over half of Britain’s signalling systems will need to be replaced in the next 15 years, offering a more cost-effective alternative that provides capacity, speed and reliability to the network. Extending the technology to rolling stock will deliver track-to-train communication in real time, enabling better performance and reliability from data intelligence. The aim is to see 70% of journeys benefitting from digital technology within 15 years, delivering the best possible customer experience.
With ever stronger regional opportunities in Wales through manufacturer presence and key route enhancements, this session aims to inform businesses about the digital revolution taking place in the rail sector, illustrating the scope for technology and solutions as well as the uptake of manufacturing capacity. This event is free to attend and whether you are currently active in the rail supply chain or a prospective partner will deliver information from a variety of industry sources and stakeholders, all intended to improve awareness and enable more informed decisions.
