Astute recognised for ‘incredible support’ as Zephyr Plus ventilator goes ahead

Astute Electronics’ contribution to the Babcock/Draeger Zephyr Plus ventilator gains kudos in The Guardian, as only 6 projects from the wartime-style effort receive the go-ahead for production.

In yesterday’s Guardian Inside Story the Zephyr Plus from Babcock/Draeger is reported as one of only six projects that is going ahead; the other 10 including Dyson’s ‘CoVent’ and the Renault/Aston Martin ‘Project Bluesky’ are under review or cancelled.

“We’re really proud to be a key supply-chain partner in this vital, life-saving project. This is a race against time, and we know that everybody in Babcock & Draeger is working flat out to get the Zephyr Plus ventilators into production,” said Freddie Roe, Aerospace & Defence Director of Astute Electronics

Reported last month in The Engineer, Jon Hall, Managing Director of Technology for Babcock, discuss the Zephyr Plus project, “We are designing, testing and manufacturing a brand new product but we are also designing and managing the entire supply chain to support its delivery from scratch. To do both in parallel demonstrates the commitment and innovation of everyone involved. It also highlights the incredible support Babcock has had from the suppliers with whom we are collaborating.”
