Invitation to attend RSG SME Sector Deal Discussion
We are pleased to confirm that the Sector Deal for Rail was secured with Government in early December 2018.
As a valued member of the SME Rail supply chain, we are now looking to get your feedback as to how the industry best coordinates itself in readiness to deliver the sector deal including future governance, delivery structure and the re-constitution of the RSG to drive delivery. Therefore, we are delighted to invite you to attend a Sector Deal Discussion for SME’s on the 28th January 2019 chaired by Gordon Wakeford, Chair of RSG and CEO of Siemens Mobility Ltd from 12:30pm to 5pm in Central London. Please can you RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by the 22nd January 2019. Invitations and the agenda will be issued shortly to confirmed attendees.
Over the last 19 months the industry has worked extremely hard, collaborating closely with Government departments, key stakeholders (including Network Rail) and organisations from across the industry to develop the deal. During this period we have held numerous roundtables, had meetings with key stakeholders in Government and across industry, engaged the supply sector from train operating companies and OEMs through to the smallest of SMEs. The trade associations including RIA, Rail Alliance and Rail Forum Midlands; NSAR and UKRRIN have also continued to offer their valuable support.
We all know that the rail sector has faced and continues to be be-set by challenges, but there is a real sense of excitement in the industry about the opportunity presented by a new relationship with Government and we believe that the industrial strategy sector deal presents a once in a generation opportunity to be a part of shaping the UK rail sector of tomorrow.
Of course, the hard work really starts now and we need to build a cross-industry delivery team to ensure we meet the commitments that have been set out in the deal. The attached Governance structure shows our proposal of how this will be set up and aligned to the core elements of the delivery plan. A key principle of delivery is building on the work of the numerous bodies and boards already in place and to avoid establishing new or duplicate bodies.
This is a unique opportunity for any SME in the UK, to participate and help shape how SMEs can contribute and support the delivery of the Rail Sector Deal.
Attendees will learn more about the RSG its vision and objectives as well as the Rail Sector Deal. Through a combination of speakers and panel discussions the event will explain what the Sector Deal means for small & medium businesses; how businesses can contribute towards the Rail Sector Deal (including the RSG SME Group) to create a more collaborative and better UK Rail Industry for all.
Finally, we would like to personally thank you for your continued support in securing the deal and look forward to working with you in the future as we move rapidly into delivery.
