Brisbane Plans Underground Rail Station

The Australian city of Brisbane is planning to construct an underground rail station as part of its A$8.2bn ($7.6bn) cross-river rail project.  The Albert Street station is expected to link the south of Brisbane's central business district with a new station at Woolloongabba and an expanded Roma Street station.  The project is expected to take four years to complete and is scheduled to be operational by 2016, according to brisbanetimes.com.au.  It is also expected to involve the construction of a second river crossing for rail services running north to south.  The project will transport 120,000 people in the morning peak hours.
