MECHAN WELCOMES NEW DESIGN AND SERVICING DUO
Sheffield-based manufacturer, Mechan, is strengthening its engineering team with the appointment of a new service and installation technician and a design student.
David Blagg is joining the handling equipment specialist to look after the servicing, repair and installation needs of Mechan’s clients in the north of England.
As a fully apprentice-trained maintenance fitter for steelworks and machine shops, David will operate alongside his counterpart in the south to ensure the smooth running of Mechan’s rail depot equipment and lifting gear.
During the past 15 years, David has worked as a service engineer for a company that manufactures compaction equipment and before joining Mechan, a door and loading bay specialist based in Stoke.
Mechan is also welcoming Sheffield Hallam University student, Richard Ogle, who joins the firm on a 12 month contract as part of his degree in computer aided design technology.
Richard will be working as a mechanical design engineer, concentrating particularly on transferring Mechan’s two-dimensional drawings onto the latest three-dimensional computer aided design software. This will allow the firm to improve the design and efficiency of its products using three-dimensional modelling and finite element analysis.
Richard Carr, Mechan’s managing director, said: “Due to recent increases in our product range and number of orders, it has become necessary to expand our engineering team. David clearly loves to be out on the road, getting his hands dirty and we are confident that he will be a great ambassador for Mechan, whilst Richard is showing a talent and flair for design that will make him a real asset to the firm.”
